Everything you need to master TypeMagic—from your first polish to advanced workflows for students, professionals, and everyday communicators.
TypeMagic is an AI-powered writing assistant that polishes your text while preserving your unique voice. Unlike tools that rewrite everything into generic “AI slop,” TypeMagic focuses on fixing errors, improving clarity, and tightening phrasing—keeping you in every word.
TypeMagic is available in three forms:
You can be up and running in under a minute. Here’s how:
Visit typemagic.pro/signup and sign up with Google or Microsoft. Your account is secured by Firebase Authentication.
A TypeMagic membership is $12/month and includes unlimited access to the web editor with premium AI models built in. No API keys needed.
Navigate to typemagic.pro/app. Paste or type your text in the input pane, choose an action (Polish, Summarize, Bullets, or Markdown), and click to transform.
Copy your polished text to the clipboard, download it as .txt, .docx, or .pdf, or save it to your document library for later.
Tip: Use the Check button for Grammarly-like inline suggestions before polishing. It highlights grammar, spelling, clarity, style, and engagement issues directly on your text.
The TypeMagic web editor is a two-pane workspace designed for speed and clarity.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Tone Selector | Choose how the AI adapts your text: Keep (preserve your voice), Professional, Casual, Friendly, or Concise. |
| Action Buttons | Polish fixes errors. Summarize creates a TL;DR. Bullets converts to a list. Expand adds detail and depth. Shorten makes text more concise. Custom lets you write any instruction. |
| Check Button | Runs an AI-powered analysis that highlights issues with colored underlines (red for correctness, blue for clarity, purple for engagement, amber for delivery, cyan for style). Opens a sidebar with suggested fixes. |
| Rephrase | Select a sentence and click Rephrase to get three alternative phrasings. Click one to replace the original text instantly. |
| Translate | Choose a target language from the dropdown (13 languages) and click Translate. The AI produces a polished, natural-sounding translation—not a word-for-word literal one. |
| Templates | Click Templates to choose from 8 pre-built document types (Cover Letter, Blog Post, etc.). Fill in a few fields and the AI generates a full draft in the input pane. |
| Voice Profile | Select a saved voice profile from the VOICE dropdown. The AI will emulate that writing style across all actions. Manage profiles with the ⚙ gear button. |
| Tone Detector | Click 🎭 Tone to analyze the tone of your input text. Colored badges appear (e.g., Confident, Formal, Friendly) so you can see how your writing sounds before polishing. |
| Snippet Library | Save reusable text blocks (email signatures, disclaimers, boilerplate) and insert them into the editor with one click via 📋 Snippets. |
| Audience Simulator | After polishing, click 👥 Audience to see how 4 different audiences (Executive, Technical, General Public, Non-Native Speaker) would perceive your text. |
| Confidence Score | A colored badge (e.g., “82% Good”) appears after every polish, combining readability, length, sentence variety, and text structure into one score. Hover for the full breakdown. |
| Writing Goals | Set your Audience, Formality, Domain, Intent, and Reading Level to guide the AI. For example, set “Academic” audience with “Formal” tone and “College” reading level for a research paper. |
| Personal Dictionary | Add words, names, or brand terms to your dictionary so the Check engine won’t flag them as errors. Managed via the 📚 button. |
| Voice Dictation | Click the 🎤 microphone button to dictate text by voice. Speech is transcribed in real time and inserted at the cursor. Works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari. |
| Writing Stats | Real-time word, character, sentence, and paragraph counts. Includes reading time and a Flesch-Kincaid readability score (0–100 ring). |
| Document Bar | Save, Open, and New buttons for persistent cloud storage. Documents auto-save after 3 seconds of inactivity. |
| Download | Export your input or output as .txt, .docx (Word), or .pdf. |
| Diff View | Toggle a red/green diff to see exactly what the AI changed. |
The Check feature is your built-in proofreader. It sends your text to the AI and returns a categorized list of issues:
Each issue appears as a colored underline in your text and a card in the suggestions sidebar. Click a card to jump to the issue, then Accept to apply the fix or Dismiss to skip it. Use Accept All to apply everything at once.
Tip: The Check button disables after analysis to prevent redundant API calls. Simply edit your text and it re-enables automatically.
Writing Goals let you tell the AI who you’re writing for and how you want to sound. These settings are injected into the AI prompt so every action respects your intent.
The Flesch-Kincaid readability score measures how easy your text is to understand on a 0–100 scale. The animated score ring updates in real time as you type:
Your documents are stored securely in Google Firestore, tied to your account. You can:
The Rephrase button gives you alternative ways to express a sentence without changing its meaning. Here’s how to use it:
Tip: Rephrase respects your active voice profile and writing goals. If you have a “CEO Voice” profile active, the alternatives will match that style.
The Personal Dictionary prevents the Check engine from flagging proper nouns, brand names, technical terms, or any words unique to your writing.
Examples of good dictionary entries: company names (“Acme Corp”), product names (“TypeMagic”), technical abbreviations (“LLM”), or personal names.
Download your input or output in three formats:
Voice Profiles let you teach the AI how you write. Create multiple personas—a CEO voice for executive updates, a casual voice for blog posts, a technical voice for documentation—and switch between them with a single dropdown.
When a voice profile is active, its style instructions and sample text are appended to every AI prompt. The AI learns the sentence structure, vocabulary, tone, and stylistic patterns from your sample and emulates them across all actions (Polish, Summarize, Check, Rephrase, Translate, and Templates).
Click the ⚙ gear button next to the VOICE dropdown in the goals toolbar.
Enter a descriptive name (e.g., “CEO Voice,” “Blog Casual,” “Academic Formal”).
Describe the voice with comma-separated traits: formal, authoritative, concise, data-driven. These act as style directives for the AI.
Paste 1–3 paragraphs of writing in the desired voice. This is the most powerful part—the AI will study the sentence structure, word choice, and rhythm of the sample. The better the sample, the more accurate the emulation.
Click Save Profile, then select it from the VOICE dropdown. Your choice persists across sessions.
Pro tip: Create a profile from your own past writing. Copy a few paragraphs from an email, report, or article you’re proud of. The AI will learn your voice and produce output that sounds authentically like you.
TypeMagic’s Translate feature goes beyond basic translation. It produces polished, natural-sounding text in the target language—not a word-for-word literal translation. Idioms, phrasing, and tone are adapted to read naturally in the target language.
Choose from 13 languages in the language dropdown:
Tip: Translation respects your tone setting and voice profile. Translating with “Professional” tone produces more formal output than “Casual.” If a voice profile is active, the AI will try to match that style in the target language.
Note: If your text is already in the selected target language, TypeMagic will polish and improve it instead of translating. This makes the Translate button double as a foreign-language polisher.
Templates let you generate a full, polished first draft from a few bullet points. Instead of staring at a blank page, fill in the key details and let the AI do the heavy lifting.
Job title, company, skills, and notes → professional 3–4 paragraph letter.
Recipient, purpose, value prop, CTA → concise outreach email under 150 words.
Topic, attendees, raw notes → structured summary with action items.
Problem, solution, timeline → full proposal with exec summary and scope.
Topic, audience, key points → 600–800 word article with intro, sections, and CTA.
Company, issue, resolution → firm but professional complaint with deadline.
Recipient, occasion, specifics → sincere, personal appreciation message.
Subject, findings, recommendations → C-suite-ready overview with bullet points.
Power move: Generate a Cover Letter template, then select your “Professional Voice” profile and hit Polish to refine it further. Chain templates with voice profiles for maximum quality.
Track your writing habits, improvement, and milestones over time at typemagic.pro/analytics. Every action you take in the editor—polishing, checking, rephrasing, translating—is logged to build your personal writing profile.
Toggle between 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and All Time to zoom in or out on your writing data. The summary cards and charts update instantly.

Tip: Analytics data is collected automatically—no action needed. Just use TypeMagic normally and your dashboard populates over time. Data is stored per-day in your Firestore account.
TypeMagic includes a built-in voice dictation feature powered by the Web Speech API. Speak naturally and your words appear in the input pane in real time—no extra software required.
Look for the 🎤 button in the input pane header (next to the word count). Click it to start recording. The button will pulse red to indicate it’s listening.
Talk at a normal pace. Your words are transcribed and inserted at the cursor position in real time. Pauses are handled automatically—the microphone stays active until you stop it.
Click the microphone button again to end dictation. Your transcribed text is now in the input pane, ready to be polished, translated, or edited.
Power workflow: Dictate your rough thoughts by voice, then hit Polish to clean up grammar and phrasing. This is the fastest way to go from idea to polished text—no typing required.
Browser support: Voice dictation works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari. The microphone button is automatically hidden in browsers that don’t support the Web Speech API (e.g., Firefox). Your browser will ask for microphone permission the first time you use it.
The Tone Detector analyzes your input text and displays colored badges that describe how your writing sounds. Use it before polishing to understand the current tone and decide if adjustments are needed.
Enter your text in the input pane as usual.
Click the purple Tone button in the toolbar. The AI analyzes your text for emotional and stylistic characteristics.
Colored badges appear below the input pane header (e.g., confident formal analytical). Each badge represents a detected tone.
The detector identifies tones from this palette:
Workflow: Run the Tone Detector before polishing. If your text reads as “casual” but you need it “formal,” switch the Tone Selector to “Professional” and polish. Then run the detector again to confirm the shift.
The Reading Level selector in the goals toolbar lets you target a specific grade level for your output. The AI adjusts vocabulary, sentence complexity, and structure to match your chosen level.
| Level | Best For |
|---|---|
| Auto | Let the AI decide based on context (default) |
| 5th Grade | Simple language for young readers or maximum accessibility |
| 8th Grade | Clear, accessible writing for general audiences |
| 10th Grade | Standard readability for most business and journalism |
| 12th Grade | Sophisticated writing for educated adults |
| College | Academic and professional-level complexity |
| Graduate | Advanced academic, legal, or technical prose |
Example: Writing a public health notice? Set Level to “5th Grade” to ensure maximum comprehension. Writing a research abstract? Set it to “Graduate” to maintain academic rigor.
Two dedicated buttons for controlling the length of your text without changing its meaning.
Click Expand to make your text longer and more detailed. The AI adds supporting points, examples, context, and depth while preserving your original meaning and voice. Great for:
Click Shorten to make your text more concise. The AI removes unnecessary words, redundancies, and filler while preserving all key information. Great for:
Power combo: Use Expand to flesh out your ideas, then Polish to clean up the result. Or use Shorten followed by Polish to get tight, polished prose.
The Snippet Library lets you save reusable text blocks and insert them into the editor with one click. Perfect for content you type repeatedly: email signatures, disclaimers, boilerplate paragraphs, standard greetings, or code snippets.
Click the 📋 Snippets button in the toolbar.
Type a name (e.g., “Email Signature”) and paste or type the snippet content in the text area below.
Click Save Snippet. The snippet is stored securely in your Firestore account and syncs across devices.
Open the Snippet Library, find the snippet you want, and click Insert. The content is placed at your cursor position in the input pane. The modal closes automatically so you can keep writing.
Ideas for snippets: Email signature, meeting agenda template, project status format, standard disclaimer, feedback request template, out-of-office message, common code blocks.
The Audience Simulator runs your polished output through four different audience lenses, showing you how each group would perceive your text. This helps you identify blind spots and optimize your writing for your target reader.
| Audience | Perspective |
|---|---|
| 👔 Executive / C-Suite | Senior business leader evaluating clarity, action items, and ROI |
| 💻 Technical Expert | Software engineer or scientist assessing accuracy and depth |
| 🌍 General Public | Average adult reader with no domain expertise |
| 🌐 Non-Native English Speaker | Someone reading English as a second language |
Workflow: Write your text → Polish → run Audience Simulator. If the “General Public” card flags jargon, switch Reading Level to “8th Grade” and polish again. Re-run the simulator to verify improvement.
After every polish, a Confidence Score badge appears in the output pane header (e.g., 85% Excellent). It’s a quick quality check combining four metrics into one number.
| Component | Max Points | What It Measures |
|---|---|---|
| Readability | 40 | Flesch-Kincaid score. 60–80 is ideal for most audiences. |
| Length | 20 | Penalizes very short outputs (fewer than 20 words). |
| Sentence Variety | 20 | Rewards varied sentence lengths over monotonous structures. |
| Structure | 20 | Multiple paragraphs score higher than a single block of text. |
Tip: Hover over the confidence badge to see the full breakdown (e.g., “Readability: 35/40, Length: 20/20, Variety: 12/20, Structure: 15/20”). Use this to identify which specific area needs work.
TypeMagic exposes a REST API so external tools, scripts, and AI agents can use all writing features programmatically. The API is powered by Firebase Cloud Functions.
All requests require an API key in the Authorization header:
Authorization: Bearer tm_your_api_key_here
Generate API keys from your Profile page under the API Keys section. Each key has a daily limit of 1,000 requests.

Pro tip: Create voice profiles in the web editor, then use them via MCP. Tell Claude: “List my TypeMagic profiles, then polish this text using my Blog Casual voice.”
Copy-paste these into Claude Desktop, Cursor, or any MCP-connected agent to see TypeMagic in action:
“Polish this email to sound professional but warm, then translate it into Spanish for my colleague in Madrid:”
Uses: polish_text → translate_text
“List my TypeMagic voice profiles. Then take these meeting notes and turn them into a blog post using my ‘Blog Casual’ voice.”
Uses: list_profiles → custom_instruction with profileId
“Generate a cover letter for a Senior Product Manager role at Stripe. Highlight my 5 years of B2B SaaS experience and data-driven approach. Use a professional tone.”
Uses: generate_from_template (cover_letter)
“Take this PR description and convert it into executive-friendly bullet points. Target audience: non-technical leadership.”
Uses: convert_to_bullets with goals (audience: executive)
“Check this document for grammar, clarity, and style issues. Then fix any issues you find by polishing the text.”

“Translate this product announcement into French, German, and Japanese. Keep it concise and professional.”
Uses: translate_text × 3 (the agent chains them automatically)
“Here are my raw meeting notes. Generate a structured meeting summary with the meeting_summary template, then also give me a concise TL;DR.”
Uses: generate_from_template (meeting_summary) → summarize_text
“Give me 3 alternative ways to phrase this call-to-action, then polish the best one in a friendly tone.”
Uses: rephrase_text → polish_text
“Take this README file and reformat it as clean Markdown with proper headings and structure. Target audience: developers. Domain: technical.”

TypeMagic adapts to any writing context. Here are some ways people use it every day:
Students polish rough drafts into clear, well-structured essays. Set goals to “Academic” audience + “Formal” formality and let TypeMagic tighten your argument without changing your thesis.
Turn bullet-point notes into persuasive, polished proposals. Use “Executive” audience + “Business” domain + “Persuade” intent for maximum impact.
Write emails faster. Dump your thoughts, hit Polish, and get a clear, professional message in seconds. Perfect for sales outreach, client follow-ups, or internal updates.
Make every word count on your resume. TypeMagic catches typos, tightens phrasing, and ensures a professional tone—critical for making a strong first impression.
Set the domain to “Creative” or “Marketing” and the intent to “Entertain” or “Inform.” TypeMagic helps you write engaging content that reads naturally.
Craft punchy, error-free posts. Use “Concise” tone to strip excess words and make every character count on platforms with limits.
Specialized domains ensure the AI respects technical terminology. Set domain to “Legal” or “Medical” and the AI preserves precise language while improving readability.
TypeMagic is a powerful tool for anyone writing in English as a second language. It corrects grammar, fixes word choice, and ensures natural phrasing.
Whether you’re writing a five-paragraph essay, a research paper, or a discussion post, TypeMagic helps you submit cleaner, more confident work.
Before pasting your draft, set Audience to “Academic,” Formality to “Formal,” Domain to “Academic,” and Intent to “Inform” or “Persuade” depending on your assignment.
Click the Check button to see all grammar, spelling, and clarity issues highlighted in your text. Review each suggestion in the sidebar and accept the ones you agree with.
Once you’ve addressed the flagged issues, click Polish to get a final clean pass. Toggle Diff View to see exactly what changed.
Look at the Writing Stats panel. For most academic writing, aim for a score between 30–60. If it’s too low, your sentences may be overly complex. If it’s too high, you may need more sophisticated vocabulary.
Download your essay as a .docx file to submit directly, or copy and paste into your LMS.

Important: TypeMagic is a polishing tool, not a ghostwriter. Always write your own ideas first, then let TypeMagic clean up the grammar and clarity. Your voice and arguments remain yours.
From quick emails to board-level reports, TypeMagic helps professionals communicate with clarity and confidence.
Don’t worry about grammar or structure. Just type what you want to say. “hey sarah, wanted to followup on the q3 budget review we talked about last week, can we schedule 30 min this thursday or friday to finalize numbers?”
Set Tone to “Professional,” Audience to “Executive” or “General,” and Domain to “Business.”
TypeMagic transforms your brain-dump into a polished, professional message while keeping your intent intact.

The AI produces polished, natural-sounding translations—not word-for-word literal output.
Voice Profiles let you save a writing persona (name, traits, and a sample of writing in that voice). When active, the AI emulates that style across all actions. For example, create a “CEO Voice” with formal, authoritative traits and a sample from an executive memo. Every time you Polish or Rephrase, the output will match that style. You can create unlimited profiles and switch between them with one click.
Click Templates in the toolbar, choose from 8 document types (Cover Letter, Blog Post, Meeting Summary, etc.), fill in a few fields, and click Generate Draft. The AI creates a full, polished first draft and places it in the input pane so you can further edit, polish, or translate it.

The Tone Detector analyzes your input text and shows colored badges describing how it sounds (e.g., confident, formal, casual, empathetic). Click the purple 🎭 Tone button to run it. Use it before polishing to understand your current tone and decide if adjustments are needed.
The LEVEL dropdown in the goals toolbar lets you target a specific grade level (5th Grade through Graduate). The AI adjusts vocabulary and sentence complexity to match. Set to “Auto” by default. Great for accessibility (5th Grade) or academic writing (Graduate).
Expand makes your text longer by adding detail, examples, and depth. Shorten makes it more concise by removing redundancy and filler. Both preserve your original meaning and voice. They respect all your goals, tone, and voice profile settings.
The Snippet Library lets you save reusable text blocks (email signatures, disclaimers, boilerplate) and insert them into the editor with one click. Click 📋 Snippets in the toolbar. Snippets are stored in your Firestore account and sync across devices.
After polishing your text, click the 👥 Audience button on the output pane. The AI evaluates your text through four audience lenses (Executive, Technical Expert, General Public, Non-Native English Speaker) and shows how each would perceive it—with an impression, a strength, and a concern for each.
A quality badge that appears after every polish (e.g., “82% Good”). It combines readability (40pts), output length (20pts), sentence variety (20pts), and text structure (20pts) into a single 0–100 score. Hover over the badge to see the full breakdown. Tiers: Excellent (85+), Good (70–84), Fair (50–69), Low (below 50).
